Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I make an application for a school or nursery place?
A. Enrolment for Primary 1 and ELCC takes place in November. Further information and enrolment forms are available from the School Office.
Parents living outwith the Stow School catchment area should contact the Head Teacher if they wish their child to attend this school to make a placement request. This will then be forwarded to Education and Lifelong Learning for a decision. An admission form should also be completed for the catchment school.
Q. Do children have to wear uniform?
A. We actively promote all children to wear school uniform.

Q. What time does school start and finish?
A. School starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm Monday-Thursday.
School starts at 8.45am and finishes at 12.15 on Fridays.

Q. Do you provide a snack at school? Will put a bit in about toast and milk bar available.
A. We encourage children to bring a small healthy snack that may be eaten at break time.
We are also proud to announce that we have a toast and milk bar that is available for 20p per item. All monies raised will go to a charity of the children’s choice.
Q. Are school meals available?
A. School meals are available for all children in P1-P3 free of charge and only £2.20 per day for all other students. For more details about our school meals please click here.
Q. Can children drink throughout the day?
A. All children have access to drinking water throughout the day. When in class they have their water bottles and they can get cups of drinking water at break and lunch times.
Q. Are children given homework?
A. Children will be given homework, how much homework will depend on their year group.
Q. What do I do if something gets lost?
A. If your child looses something please contact the school office. We advise that all clothing is labelled with the child’s name so it can be returned if found.
Q. What do I do if my child is sick?
A. If you child can not attend school please inform the school by phoning the office on 01578730218.
